These novels form a trilogy which spans several centuries of Byzantine history. Theodore is set in the seventh century, a period when the world was sinking into the Dark Ages, and what was left of the Roman Empire was taking new, distinct form. False Ambassador, beginning in France and England during the Hundred Years' War, ends with the fall of Constantinople in 1453 and its aftermath. Memoirs of a Byzantine Eunuch is set in the ninth century, when the empire was at its greatest, and most cruel.
Radio & TV appearances: During the recent debates within the Church of England on the issue of gay priests, Christopher Harris has been in demand for interviews. He has appeared on News 24, and on many radio stations, giving a historical perspective on the question, and giving examples of how gay people have contributed to the development of the church, in particular Saint Theodore, Archbishop of Canterbury and true founder of the Church in England.
